Joe Kirkish is a 99 year old professor emeritus of humanities at Michigan Technological University. He was the founder of WGGL FM, the first FM station in the Keweenaw Peninsula and one of the earliest in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He was present for the beginning of National Public Radio station and wrote his doctoral dissertation on its first four years. Dominik speaks with him about these early days of FM radio.
